Praise for Rotc-land
ROTC-Land is an unpublished linked story collection about cadets navigating school, military training, and the daunting approach of commissioning as an Army Officer at the height of America's wars in the Middle East.
"Blazingly direct, evocative, and emotionally honest, ROTC-Land is cracklingly sharp and full of insight." - Sarah Braunstein, The Sweet Relief of Missing Children
"Shane R Collins's ROTC-Land takes on America's post-9/11 wars from a welcome and unfamiliar angle: part-time warriors who grow into adulthood on and off mock battlefields. In spare, incisive, and often funny prose, Collins brings his characters to life with humor and heart." - Aaron Hamburger, The View From Stalin's Head
About Shane R Collins
Thanks for visiting my website! I am a fiction writer who has published dozens of stories over the last fifteen years. My work has appeared in The Masters Review, Rogue Owl Press, and Straylight Literary Magazine. I tend to write dark, gritty stories about complicated characters.
I earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Stonecoast and still spend a week every summer with the best group of writers I know. I attended Sewanee Writer's Workshop in 2015 where I was allowed to stalk my writing hero, Tim O'Brien.
I live and write in Bennington, Vermont with my wife, Chloe Viner, and our twins, Armand and Julian.
